Friday Afternoon Musicians
|Brighten up the week for seniors with your music!
If you are you a musician (or duo, or small group of musicians), we would really like to talk to you. We know you get lots of requests to play unpaid gigs “for the exposure”. But if you ever would consider volunteering your time and talents for a worthy cause, chew on our request! Friday afternoon music is a huge highlight around the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization. Many of our members (and community members too) come for lunch on Fridays just to check out the music.
Here is what it looks like:
When: A Friday afternoon (flexible between Noon-2pm; we’d appreciate one hour, but if you have the time and stamina for 2 hours, the guests would love it).
Who: The audience is primarily seniors. They are typically seated at tables in the dining area; sometimes very actively listening (and grooving along, sometimes even dancing), sometimes they are less actively listening while enjoying quiet conversation at their tables.
What: The music that is the best fit would be covers from the 50’s-70’s, sometimes country or folk go over really well or something instrumental. If you write original music, that could potentially be lovely too. It’s ok if you aren’t a perfectly polished performer yet – this could be a great opportunity to get some experience under your belt.
Perks: Volunteers are welcome to enjoy a lunch in the dining room on us.
