Date: 3 - 4 month project (flexible scheduling)
Where: LSCO & From Home
The dining room at the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization is a bustling place! We serve meals to the public as well as for the Meals on Wheels program which delivers lunch to seniors who are homebound.
Every day, between 7-10 volunteers help operate our kitchen. Because we are so busy, sometimes it is hard to give new volunteers enough time for thorough training. You will create materials that all new volunteers will use to learn how to do their position; it will help us for many years to come!
The “research” phase of this project will need to be completed in our office (flexible scheduling during the work week), but materials can be developed on your time at home.
This position has been designed as a SCiP Opportunity, however we would love to meet with any volunteer who may be interested in this role! The total time commitment is expected to be 60-70 hours, flexible-scheduling, over the course of several months.
This role would be ideal for one or two students/volunteers who:
* are process-minded (you’re good at explaining things step by step)
* can work with food and know basic kitchen “lingo” i.e. dice, chop, broil
* have some basic photography skills (if you’re a food instagrammer, you’re going to love this)
can produce reports/materials (a manual? a poster? open to your ideas!)
