Leaders of Tomorrow is an inspiring Gala that celebrates youth, ages 5-24, who have made contributions to our community through volunteer activity. Volunteer Lethbridge recognizes and celebrates the dedication, conduct, and good work of the exceptional youth volunteers whose example in our community is an inspiration.

We invite individuals, community groups, local businesses, educational institutions, and volunteer organizations to nominate any young person that has demonstrated the spirit of volunteerisn and inspired others. Nominators must be or have been in a supervisiory role to the youth nominee and exclude parents, caregivers and immediate relatives.

Accessability

The Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge and its banquet hall are made accessable with an elevator and wide banquet doors. Accomodated seating is available to individuals in wheelchairs or those requiring walking assistance. This must be discussed upon pick-up of tickets, prior to the Gala.

Awards

While all nominees will be recognized at the Gala, there are two types of awards:

The Recognition Award congratulates youth who have demonstrated the spirit of volunteerisms and inspired others.

The Excellence Award celebrates youth who have gone above and beyond to demonstrate leadership, initiate, character, dedication and inspiration of others. There are a maximum of eight(8) Excellent Awards to be awarded.

Dress

There is attire style expected, however, please keep in mind that this will be a memorable and inspiring evening. It is highly likely you will want to take a picture or be in a picture and remembered for many many years to come.

Excellence Selection Process

Upon nomination deadline, eligible excellence nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee. All Excellence recipients will be notified of their award status. There is a maximum of 8 Excellence Awards per year. Nominees who do not get selected to receive the Excellence award will be automatically awarded with a recognition award. 

Ineligible nominations are those which are incomplete or not received by the deadline date.

2019 Gala is on Wednesday, April 10, at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge, 320 Scenic Drive South.

History

Leaders of Tomorrow celebrates it’s 22nd year of recognizing youth since its inception in 1997. In total, Volunteer Lethbridge's Leaders of Tomorrow has recognized 2,034 young people with a combined total of 19,495 volunteer hours.

Media

This event will be filmed and boradcasted on local television and corresponding online platforms. Additionally, pictures taken by Volunteer Lethbridge staff and volunteers may be used for promotional/educational purposes. If you do not wish to be included, you must directly inform the Event Coordinator, Chelsea Eastman, of this request.

Nominations

Nominations are open until March 1, 2019. We invite individuals, community groups, local businesses, educational institutions, and volunteer organizations to nominate any young person that has demonstrated the spirit of volunteerisn and inspired others. Nominators must be or have been in a supervisiory role to the youth nominee and exclude parents, caregivers and immediate relatives. 

Only completed nominations are accepted. Incomplete nomination packages will be considered invalid and therefore not eligable for the award ceremony and banquet. It is extremely important to print clearly as these formsused to contact nominees about important Award details. 

Forms may be submitted via fax, mail or in-person to Volunteer Lethbridge, 324 - 5 St. S. Lethbridge, AB, T1J 2B5.

Unlike previous years, online form submission is not avaialble due to the requirement of a parent/guardian signature on the media consent form.

Parking

Free Gala parking is available in the designated Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge parking lots and street parking surrounding the building. Guests will abide to the policies of Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge.

Scholarships

Sunrise Rotary of Lethbridge has tremendously supported the Leaders of Tomorrow recpients by providing two (2) $1000 scholarship awards to post-secondary students, to be used towards their educational institution fees.

Runners Soul of Lethbridge has generously supported the Leaders of Tomorrow recipient by providing one (1) $1000 scholarship to a continuing University of Lethbridge student who is also a UVolunteer profile member.

Ticket Information 

All nominees are provided with 2 complimentary tickets, partially sponsored by Servus Credit Union. One ticket is for the nominee and the other is for a guest. Additional tickets may be purchased online or in-person at the Volunteer Lethbridge office, for $30.00 each. This provided entry to view the awards ceremony and participate in the banquet dinner service. 

*Complimentary nominee tickets must be picked up in person before the pick-up deadline in order to confirm attendance, otherwise your absence is assumed* Alternate arranges may be made, however, mail out of tickets is not permitted*

Volunteer

This event would not be as successful as it has been without the support of community memebers helping along the way. During the Gala, we are looking for individuals to help with a variety of tasks including, registration table, set-up, take-down, assembling the youth nominees, taking photographs, directing the nominees to and from the stage, take-down, and more.
