Position: Kitchen Coordinator
Description: This position will be located at Family Centre North, in the Interfaith Chinook Country Kitchen at Interfaith Food Bank. The goal of this position is to address the cycle of poverty by working with participants to provide hands on cooking classes to improve food skills, food literacy and confidence in a kitchen. Programs will focus on economical and nutritious meals based on the Canada Food Guide and a limited budget. In addition, this position will support individuals by providing information and referrals and parent support which may be offered individually or within a group setting. This position will involve some evening and weekend work.
Qualifications:  A Diploma or Degree in a Human Services, Nutrition or Community Development related field with 2 years’ experience working with individuals providing education, support, advocacy and referrals.
 Knowledge and experience related to meal planning, food safety, budgeting, and nutrition
 Demonstrated capacity to work with people experiencing marginalization and poverty
 Have a strong desire and capacity to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals
 Working knowledge of local community resources and experience with providing appropriate referrals to individuals
 Ability to network and build working relationships with colleagues and community agencies
 Strong organization skills are required, along with an ability to work independently, be proactive, self-directed and ethical
 Computer skills and literacy
 Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
 Current first aid certificate
 Alberta Children’s Services Intervention Record Check (within 6 months)
 Police Record Check including vulnerable sector (within 6 months)
Benefits: The starting salary for this position is between $18.75 – $21.98 dependent upon education and
experience.
