Position 5 Days Sleeper - 5 Days for the Homeless
Location University of Lethbridge, University Drive West, Lethbridge, AB, Canada
Impact Statement 5 Days for the Homeless is a national campaign run by the Canadian Association of Business Students that strives to raise awareness and donations for members of society that are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. In the Lethbridge community, all funds raised will be donated to Woods Homes, a children’s mental health center that provides treatment and support to children, youth and families. Volunteering with 5 Days can be very beneficial and end in a very positive note, whether you’re a full 5 Days sleeper or a guest sleeper.
Description Being a 5 Days sleeper requires you to sleep outside for all 5 days (unless inclement weather or emergency situations), attend all classes/labs and complete assignments/exams as you regularly would. As a 5 Days sleeper, we ask that you stay on campus during the duration of the week, and be present when you can, around the main shelter area, which will be located at the Student Union Bus Loop. Bring a sleeping bag and layers of warm clothes. In the end, you can log 120 hours of volunteering, and gain a meaningful perspective about homelessness. If you only want to sleep outside for a few days that is acceptable too, please fill out our guest sleeper form. Security is aware that this event is happening and will check up on sleepers regularly. You will also be provided with meals, thanks in part to donations from the community.
