Volunteer Alberta & InWithForward

Volunteer Alberta is a provincial non-profit network that champions the power of volunteerism to build firm, connected, and vibrant communities across Alberta. Volunteer Alberta provides leadership, advocacy, and resources that empower organizations to strengthen their capacity and impact. Through research initiatives, learning opportunities, and innovative tools, the organization fosters safer and more inclusive volunteer environments. 

InWithForward is a social design organization that reimagines how social services are delivered by highlighting the lived experiences of people often overlooked by traditional systems. Their work bridges research, ethnography, and co-design to prototype and scale social programs that are more relational, responsive, and human. InWithForward’s bold, iterative approach challenges top-down models and instead focuses on making social innovation tangible and sustainable.

The Nonprofit Chamber

The Nonprofit Chamber, formerly CCVO (Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations), is a member-based charitable organization that champions the collective power and sustainability of Calgary’s nonprofit sector. It also addresses sector-related public policy issues in Alberta. Acting as both an advocate and resource hub, the Nonprofit Chamber supports nonprofits through education and collaboration. Their work focuses on strengthening the capacity of nonprofit organizations by providing them with tools, strategic connections, and policy support that enable them to serve their communities better. By elevating the visibility and impact of the sector, the Nonprofit Chamber ensures that nonprofits are recognized as vital contributors to economic development, social innovation, and community well-being across Alberta.

Government of Alberta

The Alberta Nonprofit, Voluntary Sector Initiative (ANVSI) is an ongoing collaborative effort between the Government of Alberta and the province’s nonprofit and voluntary sector. It was established to strengthen relationships, build capacity, and ensure the sector holds an active voice in shaping policy. The initiative provides a platform for nonprofit leaders to engage with government officials. This enables nonprofits to provide input on legislation, regulations, and key decisions that impact their organizations and communities. Through ANVSI, the province acknowledges the vital role that nonprofits play in promoting inclusion and driving social innovation. The initiative supports research, knowledge-sharing, collective problem-solving, and mutual accountability to develop a more coordinated and impactful nonprofit landscape in Alberta.

Senate of Canada

The Senate of Canada has played a pivotal role in advocating for the charitable and nonprofit sector through its Special Senate Committee on the Charitable Sector. Recognizing the sector’s significant social and economic contributions, the Committee conducted extensive research, consultations, and hearings to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges nonprofits face. This culminated in a report which offers recommendations aimed at strengthening the sustainability, innovation, and impact of Canadian charities.
